ECO

Carbon Negative Eyewear

Now is a good time

All big changes come in the form of many small ones, one frame at the time. Since 2009 ECO has been a pioneer of sustainability in the eyewear industry and offers the widest range of sustainable materials in the market.

ECO’s sustainable materials

Biobased: ECO’s biobased frames are crafted using castor seed oil, making them lightweight, comfortable – and sustainable.
Recycled metal: made using 95% recycled metal. That’s a serious saving on natural resources!
Bio acetate: Made from natural cotton and wood pulp with the same look and feel of normal acetate, but phthalate-free and biodegradable!
Ocean plastic: All ECO Ocean frames are created from recycled and ocean based plastics. Join the ECO’s Wave of Change!

360° approach

ECO’s mission is to have a 360° approach, sustainability applied to glasses, but also to displays, packaging and logistics. It is fundamental to empower the customer to contribute positively to the environment.

Social Purpose

Since 2009 ECO has been collaborating with the NGO Trees for the Future planting a tree for any frame purchased, the program is called “Eco – One Frame, One Tree” and over 3.3 million trees have been planted so far! These trees clean out more CO2 than ECO’s eyewear production creates, and this makes ECO a carbon negative brand! Unlike being carbon neutral, where one compensates for CO2 emissions at a ratio of one to one, ECO is carbon negative. Being carbon negative means that EOC gives back more than what it takes!

In team with the NGO Waste Free Oceans, ECO started its Wave of Change initiative, with the sunglasses collection ECO Ocean made out of recycled ocean based plastic, that helped collecting over 40 tons of plastic.

ECO received several design awards for its frames and packaging, amongst them the iF Design Award in 2022 and 2020, the A’ Design Award in 2021, the German Design Award in 2021.
