The Mayas and Aztecs worshipped the moon as a god, while it is equated with egg whites in Finland, and large parts of Asia speak of a rabbit inside the moon. In 1969, the first human set foot on the moon (no rabbits, bummer). As history has it, a small step for a man at the time, but a major leap for mankind. And although the moon has officially been conquered, it still retains its mystery aura today. Danish brand Ørgreen taps into the legend and takes customers on a moon walk with their special Out of Orbit (OOO) Collection.
The two styles – aptly named »Rook« and »Taurus« – offer coloring and surface finish inspired by lunar rock formations. The special kind of finish is the most recognizable feature of OOO styles, next to their double nose bridges. With its rectangular lens shape, the »Rook« derives its moniker from Montes Rook, a 900 kilometer ring-shaped mountain range on the moon. In the same vane, the »Taurus« model is a tribute to the Taurus-Littrow valley, where the Apollo 17 mission touched down in 1972. It remains the last manned lunar expedition to date. But hey, you can still dream, for instance with these gorgeous moon-inspired frames.
