KBL views itself as an innovative and creative eyewear brand with a vision of global success based on combined design and quality. This is why KBL focuses on people as a customer group that value artistry, as well as design, lifestyle, understatement and craftsmanship.
KBL began life in September 2009 with its own collection of sunglasses and was founded by Adam and Kara Mendelsohn, together with Dave Barton. In 2011, Ralph Albrecht invested in KBL; since then, he has been giving KBL the benefit of his sales experience and providing impetus for design and product development. Since March 2011, KBL has also had a European presence.
The current collection comprises a large choice of shades and optical models. Italian acetate and Japanese titanium are some of the “construction materials” we use. All KBL glasses are manufactured using special laser technology. The eyewear’s special features are a newly developed hinge system bearing the KBL logo, the Empire State Building set in the metal inlay and the new KBL signature mark on the temple tip.
The current collection is a reflection of “Bohemian Lifestyle”. Metropolises and artists’ quarters all over the world inspired the names of the different designs – Liberty Island, Rockaway Beach, The Hamptons, Gotham City, Barrios, Wynwood & Kings Cross. Surfaces are matted by hand, with half-sanded or part-polished finishes. Recurring throughout the collection are pastel shades, right in line with fashion trends.
