Developed in the year 1936 as protection against the sun for pilots, the eyeglasses became an incomparable classic on the nose of US superstar Tom Cruise in the blockbuster “Top Gun”. Famous as sun shades, the new interpretation of the metal frame in 2017 constitutes a striking fashion statement with distinctive vintage style.

During the 1930s, the classic pilot glasses were designed for the US Air Force as solar protection. The green tint of the drop-shaped glasses ensured improved readability of the bright red blinking instruments in the cockpit. Additionally, the flattened shape of the frame provided for a flush finish with the leather cap that was typical at that time.
