Cologne-based label Martin&Martin has two important announcements to make. So we took the chance to invite them over to our photo studio. In order to make the way from M&M’s head office in Kyffhäuser street through the Belgische Viertel quarters to our studio in Stadtgarten, you need two things: five minutes, and a good pair of sunglasses. After all, we’re crossing Cologne’s hottest district for students and fashionistas. And for a stylish sun shield, Martin Lehmen no longer needs to resort to products by other brands. Because from now on, M&M is producing Sunglasses Made in Germany directly in-house.
And that’s not the only big announcement: Martin&Martin is framing polycarbonate sun lenses with high-grade polarization in a metal frame – thereby successfully applying the style and coloring of their puristic acetate collection in a stainless steel concept. But make no mistake: The Cologne-based designers are not abandoning acetate altogether, but rather combining the warm, matted acetate colors with the cool elegance of stainless steel frames in a completely new design formula. The six hybrid models (three sunglasses/three RX) are available in four to six colors and are taking the tradition of retro plastic frames to a new level of innovative and technology-oriented styles.
These new styles are incredibly easy to wear, and just as easy for opticians to handle. All PVD-coated styles are easily vitrifiable and can be adjusted to the contours of pretty much any wearer’s face. The future looks bright – and exciting!
