POWDER & HEAT develops and produces custom prescription glasses and sunglasses using 3D printing techniques.
The eyewear label uses state-of-the-art techniques, high-quality materials and regionally-produced components combined with a specially-developed software solution.
The models are designed on a computer and then produced through laser sintering. In this process, a laser fuses polyamide into any conceivable form. Layer by layer, this creates the basis for every POWDER & HEAT, a high-quality and unique pair of glasses.
All of the models in the collection can be combined with different lens sizes, bridge widths, temple lengths and colours, depending on customer requirements.
Customers’ faces can be measured in seconds using a 3D scanner developed and optimised for iPad, and the frames can be visualised and customised with the supplied software.
The two founders, Georg Vollmer and Manuel Breit, bring their many years of experience in the fields of eyewear design, 3D printing, surface finishing and software development into the company. This ensures the development of regular design and technology innovations.
The collection’s ground-breaking and trendy design language has already led to the young company being awarded the Red Dot Design Award and the German Design Award.
