EINSTOFFEN Above The Earth // Sopraterra

With the Sopraterra collection, Swiss brand EINSTOFFEN launches a line featuring finely crafted millings and premium eyewear chains. The stylish design and intricate details of the Sopraterra collection are perfectly showcased in the latest SPECTR cover shoot by Berlin-based photographer Lotte Thor and her team. Co-founder Ramon Studer shares the story behind the collection’s name and EINSTOFFEN’s meticulously crafted frames.

Hello Ramon, you sent us your new Sopraterra collection for the cover shoot. What’s behind the name?

We wanted to create a design inspired by flowers and botany – something that captures and highlights natural structures and colors. That was our starting point. Then one Friday evening, Raphi and I were sitting in a restaurant, and there was this flyer on the table for a band called “Sopraterra”. We spontaneously went to their concert, and afterward, it was clear that this would be the name for the new collection.

Unusual. What do you associate with the name?

Sopraterra means “a view above the earth” to us. Our association with the name is best described in the words from our collection text:

“We look upward, into the sky, into infinity. Our eyes, framed by our glasses, are the windows to our soul. Like flowers blooming toward the sun, we also reach for the light. Sopraterra, a name that evokes the beauty and fragility of existence, stands as a testament to the human desire to see, understand, and dream.”

How does this theme reflect in the collection?

The heart of our new collection lies in the innovative millings. Inspired by the mesmerizing world of flowers, we translated their structures into stunning eyewear designs. We began experimenting with these unique milling techniques in early 2023 to bring them to life.
