KOBERG’s reinterpretation of its trademark
In 2013, Koberg & Tente presented the inaugural KOBERG eyewear collection. More than seven years later, the label still represents – perhaps now more than ever – technically-oriented eyewear design, uncompromising form language and premium quality. At the same time, the creators of KOBERG emphasize variety, elegance and purist designs next to the high demands on craftsmanship that have been a beacon since day one. The screwless and cylindrical hinges, created by master designer Josef Lanta have also emerged as a signature calling card for the brand. In 2019, the brand revolutionized its offering: In close cooperation with the freelance design team at Studio Spektakel, the eyewear selection was expanded by a second collection aimed at creating a modern and cosmopolitan look. The new line also includes a redesigned hinge mechanism. Although no longer screwless, the new version of the hinge retains its proven shape. The new concept, which also allows for creating more delicate temples and rims, was technically implemented and evolved into a final product together with Alessandro Picicci at Design & Optik Manufaktur.
Despite this bold reinvention and pursuit of new horizons, the established core of KOBERG’s brand philosophy remains untouchable. Much like the fact that the entire collection is manufactured exclusively in Germany using regionally sourced materials in order to limit CO2 emissions to a minimum. With a maximum in style, the new KOBERG frames are living proof that doing good and looking great are sides of the same coin.
